What are suspension bushings?
The role of suspension bushes is very important to the suspension. A suspension bush is a flexible part that is fitted between most of cars’ suspension parts. They protect the suspension not to be eroded due to metal contact between the different parts of the suspension framework. In specific, these bushings absorb the vibration and noise from car’s suspension system and control the car’s transfer and movement.
Importance of suspension bushings
Control arm bushings are installed between the control arm and the frame of the vehicle. They are very important for tire calibration and tire wear, handling, and vehicle control. Most cars use one or two control arms per wheel, on both the front and rear suspension, with each arm housing two bushings. Many front-wheel-drive cars only have lower control arm, but most of pickup tracks and SUV have both of upper and lower.
Stabilizer bar bushings are installed underneath the car on anti-roll bars which protect the vehicle do not roll from side to side, especially during cornering. In this case, they are constantly twisting and flexing, and it caused car worn faster. Usually, there are front and rear stabilizer bars per car, each has two stabilizer bar bushings.
Leaf spring bushing is another type of bushing, installed in the ‘eyes’ of the leaf spring. Leaf spring is typically used as the rear suspension of heavy load carrying vehicles such as pickup tracks. The leaf spring sustain the weight of the vehicle and control the ride height while keeping the tires in contact with the road. The load on leaf spring bushing is usually very high due to the weight and forces that pickup tracks are subjected to and need to be replaced regularly.
